Welcome to the

South Portslade Community Centre

The South Portslade Community Centre is managed and administered by the Community Association of Portslade (South) - known as CAPS - which is a registered not-for-profit charity (No. 1089418). It has been in existence since 1996, with the original remit to develop a community centre.

The objectives of the Association are now to promote the benefit of the local inhabitants to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure-time occupation with the object of improving the conditions of life for the said inhabitants.

Plans for the Future

You may have seen from our Spring Newsletter that we are planning significant developments to the exterior of the Centre, including the following:-

  • Continued development of the decking area, which now includes a herb garden for the use of cookery groups that use the refitted kitchen facilies.
  • The clearing of the rear area behind the Centre to provide walkways accessible by the disabled and seating within a garden environment.
  • We are consulting with an architect regarding the provision of an expanded parking area to allow minibuses for the disabled to be accommodated.
  • The possibility of installing photoelectric cells on the south-facing roof to reduce the costs of electricity for the Centre.
